Who We Are Looking For

Smart Skills Ltd is looking for talented and qualified person to fill the positions of Recovery Officers at its Kampala and Mbarara offices.
The Recovery Officers are responsible for finding people who owe money from overdue loans, debts, bills and negotiating their payment.

2 will be posted to the Mbarara office, and 4 will be posted to the Kampala office.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

REPORTS TO: Recovery Supervisor

Keep tracking outstanding debts
Plan course of action to recover owed money
Locate and contact debtors
Update account status and database regularly
Comply with requirements when legal action is unavoidable
Handle customers’ questions or complaints
Negotiate payoff deadlines and payment plans
Build trust with debtors
Identify gaps in the system and recommend solutions

Requisite Skills for this Role

Good knowledge and skills in data analysis and management.
Fluent in both oral and written communication in English.
Attention to detail is critical.
Demonstrates high integrity and sense of confidentiality.
Results oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
Flexible and willing to work for long hours.
Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
High Level of Customer Service.
Good negotiation skills.
Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Good Time Management.
Ability to drive and/or ride a motorcycle.

Qualifications

EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor’s Degree

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Business or equivalent from a recognised institution.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least one year of relevant work experience in credit or debt recovery with a busy financial institution.
Thorough understanding of bank credit recovery practices and the Mortgage Act will be required.
